LAUC-LA Handbook: Procedures

This guide provides information and background documents for LAUC-LA Committees to carry out their charges. For a committee’s charge and roster, click that committee tab and a drop-down menu will lead to the procedures and documents for each committee.

Ensure That Charges Are Clear

Ensure that the committee’s Specific Charges for the year are clear. In other words, CPG members should understand what circumstances or challenges prompted a specific charge to be raised and the scope of the recommendations being sought. The specific charges should each provide details about which areas of the bylaws and and/or other documents the committee should investigate, and provide additional documentation with context and rationalization for the potential changes. Where relevant, the Executive Board should provide names of individuals who can provide context for items included in the charges.

If the context for a specific charge is not clear, the CPG chair should request that the LAUC-LA Executive Board supply the missing information before CPG begins its work.

Bylaws Changes

When bylaws changes are approved by LAUC-LA membership, the new language must be provided to the LAUC-LA webmaster so that the website can be updated accordingly.

The webmaster makes updates by manually editing the HTML code of individual pages. He also makes a PDF of the bylaws for downloading and links it at the top of the bylaws page.  Therefore, the Committee on Professional Governance should provide the webmaster a MS Word document showing the old bylaws text with all of the changes marked by using Track Changes.
