Conducting History Research at UCLA

This research guide will point you toward online research resources and strategies available to you as scholars doing historical research at UCLA.  You will also find some help locating analog resources (e.g. print, microfilm, audiovisual) in our library catalogs.

Visit this guide regularly to check for upcoming library workshops and events, as well as newly acquired resources to help you in your research process.

If your area of research is outside Anglophone North America, Australia/New Zealand, and Europe, consider contacting the appropriate subject specialist at http://www2.library.ucla.edu/libraries/librarians.cfm.

Catalogs

There are a number of library catalogs available to UCLA researchers. For an explanation of why we have so many catalogs, what they each contain, and how we may end up with a single library catalog interface in the future, check out the Books Tab in this guide.

Major Online Sources

These online sources are good places to start your research in history. For quick reference, hold your mouse over a link for a brief description of the resource.

For more suggested sources, go to the tabs at the top of the page.
