Cross-Database Searching
Many database vendors offer the option to search across multiple databases at once, allowing cross-searching of different newspaper sets and other primary source materials.
- ProQuest Newspapers This link opens in a new window Searches all ProQuest newspapers to which UCLA subscribes, both current and historical newspapers from major U.S. cities (Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal), international news sources, and alternative press.
- AM Search This link opens in a new window UCLA subscribes to selected AM (formerly Adam Matthew) databases comprised of digitized archival material and primary sources. You can use AM Search to search across all of them. UCLA has access to licensed AM content published through 2024. Formerly known as Adam Matthew Archive Explorer.
- Gale Primary Sources This link opens in a new window A cross-search platform of 21 databases available from the Gale Group, including historical newspapers (formerly NewsVault), The Making of Modern Law, U.S. Declassified Documents Online, among others. They can be searched as a group or as a selected subset.
- Readex AllSearch This link opens in a new window Combined search of all Readex (NewsBank) databases to which UCLA subscribes, including America's Historical Imprints, America's Historical Newspapers, American State Papers, FBIS Daily Reports, U.S. Congressional Serial Set, Caribbean newspapers, 1718-1876 and World Newspaper Archive.
