Where Do I Publish?
The following tools may help you decide where to publish an article. Remember, if a journal is not online, authors should favor those who allow authors to put their articles on their or their institutions’ home pages and/ or repositories.
- Journal ImpactThis resource will help you identify the most appropriate, influential journals in which to publish. It offers a systematic, objective means to critically evaluate the world's leading journals. One of the measures used is impact factor. This is a measure of the frequency with which the average article in a journal has been cited in a particular year or period. More Information
- Journal/Author Name Estimator (JANE)This resource gives you a way to identify possible journals that have published on a specific topic. In addition to giving you a list of journals publishing on your topic, it will list the Articles influency (bases on Eigen Factor analysis). Search by just the title or also include the abstract. JANE pulls its data from MEDLINE and gives you information on the 50 articles that are most similar to your article. More information
- Eigenfactor.orgEigenfactor is an alternate journal ranking system to ISI's impact factor. It is based on an algorithm that weights the number of citations, which journals they are coming from and how those journals are ranked. This approach ranks journals much as Google ranks Web pages to determine which journals are more influential. More information
