Xaviera Flores is the Librarian and Archivist at the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center. The center is dedicated to the development of scholarly research on the Chicano-Latino population and Flores is integral to this mission. She oversees all library, archives, and museum services, including outreach, instruction, grant projects, and donor relations. She also works closely with students and partner organizations to build stronger ties between community and UCLA.

Flores has worked in libraries since 2004 and holds an MS in Library and Information Science from Simmons College, specializing in Archives Management and Audiovisual Preservation. She has worked for such institutions as the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, Arizona State University, and Boston College. She also holds a BA from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, having majored in Film Studies with minors in Communication Studies, French, and Sociology.

In 2014, Flores co-authored the paper “Breaking the Language Barrier: Describing Chicano Archives with Bilingual Finding Aids,” in the American Archivist and has since continued to break down barriers and advocate for the Chicano-Latino populations’ access to their community history.
