Los Angeles History and Culture in Library Special Collections

Resources and Search Strategies

Special Collections’ holdings contain a variety of materials that document the histories of Los Angeles’s varied communities. These materials include personal papers, records of organizations, government records, collections of photographs, oral histories, and various kinds of ephemera.

Finding aids for materials on Los Angeles communities can be found in the Online Archive of California. Abstracts of oral histories, and often transcripts and audio recordings are available online: UCLA Library's Center for Oral History Research.
