If UCLA does not own an item, UC students, faculty, and staff can request it through the interlibrary loan (ILL) service.
Off-campus users who wish to request materials from UCLA can contact their local public or college libraries to request interlibrary loans of UCLA books or request photocopies of specific articles through the document delivery service.
The UCLA Library can support your research needs wherever you are. While our in-person services and physical spaces are not currently available, online services continue! Take a virtual tour of the UCLA Library to see how we can help you succeed!
These boxes contain generic content that may be applicable in many guides. By linking to them, you can include content in your guides that will be centrally maintained. This page contains boxes for all units, plus there are separate pages for unit-specific master boxes.
To use a master box in your guide, click on the normal Add New Box link, but instead of creating a new box choose the tab "Reuse Existing Box". Then navigate to this guide (or any other) and select the specific box you'd like to reuse. The box in your guide will be automatically changed whenever the master box is edited.
Have an idea for a master box? E-mail any of the LibGuides admins, they all can edit this guide.
Remember, ANY box can be a master box, even your own. If there's content you're using over and over, consider creating an unpublished guide called "My Masters" and reusing boxes from there. Then when you edit the master, all of your guides get updated at once! You can do the exact same thing with individual links or whole pages.
Remember that you can also re-use individual links in your own boxes. Go to the Add/Reorder dropdown menu at the bottom of the box. Click on Link, which takes you to the list of ASSETS. Just use the "Reuse Existing Link" feature, then type the first few letters of the link's name. Select the one you want and open the item. You can position the link in the box you are working on and click save. Once the asset is in your guide, you can still customize the description if you need to..Whenever the original link's name, URL, or description is updated on this page, your guide will also be updated! If you check the COPY box, it makes a copy that is not mapped to the original and you will need to manually make any changes (such as URL updates).
For databases, re-use the links in the A-Z Database List. Here too, you can customize the description in your own guide, or just use the general description. Any changes to the URL or the description will automatically be updated in your guides.
The A-Z Database List does have a few items that are not strictly "databases." These include the UCLA Library Catalog, UCLA Library Digital Collections, UC Library Search, UCLA Film & Television Archive Catalog.
The Library's online subscription resources can always be accessed from computers and wireless networks on campus. However, off-campus access is restricted to current UCLA, students, faculty, and staff who have set up their computer using one of the methods below. Click on the other tabs to see how four Bruins got their computers set up and ready to go for remote access!
If you still need help, you can contact the UCLA IT Support Center at (310) 267-4357 or help@it.ucla.edu. They provide 24/7 phone support.
