How do I find a journal?

There are countless journals in the US alone, ranging from indie magazines published out of editors' living rooms to elite journals that publish big-name writers. Most journals are in print, but online literary journals no longer hold the stigma they once did. Below is a list of ways you can find literary journals at UCLA, in Los Angeles, and online.

Los Angeles- and California-based Journals

Here are some journals we think are neat.

Annual Anthologies

The Best American Short Stories, the Best American Poetry, the O. Henry Prize, and the Pushcart Prize publish annual anthologies of stories originally published in literary journals. See below for more detailed information on where to find these anthologies in the UCLA Library. Once you have one, look to see where winning stories and poems were published. If you see a journal we don't subscribe to, email us!

Here are our most recent volumes of the major annual anthologies. You can also browse older volumes on the shelves.
