Zotero Options: Extension (Add-On), Standalone, and Web
Zotero can be used in several different configurations. These slides explain the differences, so you can decide which interface is best for your needs.
Setting Up the Zotero Add-On
- Download and install FirefoxThere are Windows and Mac OS versions.
- Download and install Zotero Word Processor PluginChoose the version of Zotero you are using, and then the word processor application you are running.
- Register for a Zotero accountIf you want to share your collections with a group or sync your libraries (recommended!).
- Zotero Style RepositoryIf Zotero's pre-loaded citation styles aren't enough, you can find almost 7,000 more in the style repository. One click to download and install.
Mobile Applications
- PaperShipDesigned for iPad and iPhone, PaperShip syncs with users’ Zotero libraries, providing access to all items stored inside them. To add new references, it also imports directly from the web and automatically downloads full text PDFs when available. Each PDF can be annotated and highlighted, then stored back within the library with every modification saved. Annotated documents can also be shared via email, text messages, Facebook and Twitter.
