Honors Collegium 78: Science and Religion, from Copernicus to Darwinism

UCLA Library Catalog

Find books at UCLA using the UCLA Library Catalog. To find E-books, narrow your search by using the Available online at UCLA filter.

Relevant search terms can be very broad. Examples:

      Religion and science

      Science - history

The subject heading 'Religion and science' focuses on Christianity. For other perspectives for example, try searching:

      Judaism and science

      Islam and science

      Hinduism and science

Try searching more specific topics too. Examples:

Religion and science - Italy - history - 17th century

Religion and science - England - history

      Creationism

Evolution - religious aspects - Christianity (or Judaism or Islam)

      Biotechnology - religious aspects

      Christianity - 20th century

      Bible and science

      Koran and science

Always check for correct spellings of proper names, often there are multiple versions. Examples from the UCLA Library Catalog:

      Brahe, Tycho, 1546-1601

      Copernicus, Nicolaus, 1473-1543

      Galilei, Galileo, 1564-1642

      Kepler, Johannes, 1571-1630

      Urban VIII, Pope, 1568-1644

Don't get too specific in your first searches.  More specific items can usually be found in newspaper, journal, and magazine articles.

Where Is SRLF and Other Tips on Requesting Items

Under the following circumstances you may want to request an item that you do not find in the UCLA Library.

The catalog may list the location of an item you need as SRLF. This is the Southern Regional Library Facility here on campus.  You can request the item for pick up the next working day, or visit the facility and request the item in person.

If an item is checked out to another user, you may recall it, using the Request button in UC Library Search.

If UCLA does not own an item, users can request it through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service.
