Connect from Off-Campus or via Wireless On-Campus

Most of the links on these pages go to subscription sources which are accessible from any computer on campus. All campus wireless networks (eduroam, UCLA_WIFI, or UCLA_WEB) provide access to online subscription content.

UCLA students, faculty, and staff can access these sites from off-campus using either the Bruin Online Proxy Server (a simple setting in your browser) or the UCLA VPN Client (a program you install on your computer). To set up an iPAD, follow the instructions for the iPhone. You can also get access through UCLA mobile. As of April 17, 2018, off-campus access will require Multi-Factor Authentication in addition to a Bruin ID and Password.

[NOTE: If you are using a Mac, you may need to use Chrome or Firefox, not Safari, to read some of the pdf material.]

What Did You Learn Today??

We want to know how effective our library instruction is. Please click on the link below and answer the questions. It should not take longer than a few minutes.

To Google or Not to Google?

The Internet has brought a vast array of information to your desktop. The challenge for students is to identify the relevant sources, get to them easily, and critically evaluate their content. Some of the following websites are licensed for UC users only, others are open to all. Those that are licensed will not turn up in a Google search.

This guide will lead you to resources that can help you find material for your assignments. Remember that you can always ask a reference librarian for help.

Library Prize for Undergraduate Research

The Library Prize for Undergraduate Research recognizes and honors excellence in undergraduate research at UCLA. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best projects (group or individual) supported by UCLA Library resources.

Prize categories include the Arts and Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences; as well as projects that incorporate resources from the UCLA Library Special Collections and the Music Library's contemporary music collections.

Major Communication Journals

These major journals are not included in CIOS. The catalog will link to an online version if we have access to it. Otherwise you can look at the print issues in the library.
