The erotic has traditionally been defined by the dominance of men’s sexual fantasies while women have been constructed as the objects of such desires rather than their subject. Working against such simplistic notions, the artists in this section approach erotic subject matter with a sense of humor and a critical eye toward stereotypical views of female sexuality and its psychological complexities.
